Girl Scout Troop #4029 credits the community

Of the approximately 2,500 Girl Scout Troops who sell Operation Thin Mint (OTM) cookies in the San Diego-Imperial Council, Fallbrook Troop #4029 ranked in the top fifty. The San Diego-Imperial Council congratulated them on joining the ranks of the official OTM Superstar Troops on April 13, 2006.

Now, we want to thank and congratulate the communities of Fallbrook and Bonsall. We couldn’t have done it without our “Superstar Community.” Living here in the Fallbrook area, we see a lot of support for our military members stationed around the world.

Our OTM experience in 2006 gave us the opportunity to hand-deliver Operation Thin Mint cookies to the USNS Mercy, a floating hospital, before deployment last spring. What an experience! We met some of the men and women who were preparing to deploy. The crew all received cookies, along with extra boxes to share with patients they anticipated seeing. We would also like to thank CAP Joseph Moore, USN, and his crew for their hospitality and for giving us the opportunity to go onboard.

Operation Thin Mint (OTM) sends “a taste of home and a note to show we care” to US military troops far from home. We team up with our cookie customers for this program developed by the San Diego-Imperial Council in 2002. This year, we’ll send the one-millionth box of cookies overseas! The Navy helps distribute cookies to service members from all branches of the military. You can even write messages of support to the troops to accompany the cookies.

Your opportunity to join in Operation Thin Mint continues as booth sales begin at local stores on Friday, March 2, and run through Sunday, March 18.
