Have fun and help provide food for the hungry

FALLBROOK — The 16th annual Fallbrook CROP Walk will return Sunday, March 25, to raise funds for hunger relief. Last year, 374 walkers in the Fallbrook CROP Walk raised over $67,000. One quarter of this amount went to Fallbrook Food Pantry to purchase food for the needy, which was further matched by County Supervisor Horn’s office. The other 75 percent is distributed nationally and internationally to relieve hunger through Church World Service.

The Fallbrook CROP Walk is one of the most successful in the western United States and continues to grow in size each year. This noncompetitive event for all ages is easy to participate in and the benefits to those less fortunate are practical and tangible.

Anyone can come with his/her family, church group, neighbors, business or favorite organization. Bring the babies and the children. Walk a dog – or even a llama or a pony. Participants can also jog or run the short 5K course through town. Everyone who takes part in this simple event will be helping to make a difference in the lives of many people here and around the world.

On March 25, the CROP Walk begins at 1:15 p.m. at Fallbrook Food Pantry, 1042 South Mission Road. Participants can park in the Albertson’s parking lot across the street.

To be a walker or to sponsor one, call Herman Van Den Bosch, Fallbrook CROP Walk director, at (760) 728-3036 or Annie Yazdani, Fallbrook Food Pantry, at (760) 728-7608.
