Fallbrook Rotary and Rotary of Oceanside hosted a luncheon at Grand Tradition on February 26 to honor local, outstanding Sailors and Marines for 2006.

Fallbrook Rotary’s Jack Wood opened the awards with announcements followed by Rotarian Bob Franz leading the group in singing “Grand Ol’ Flag.” Special Guest, Bob McKinney, from Congressman Darrell Issa’s office was on hand to present a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition to each of the honorees.

The honorees, from three branches of the military, were introduced and congratulated by their commanding officers.

Lt. Drew Martinez of the Naval Weapons Depot, Fallbrook, presented Senior Sailor 2006 Master-at-Arms 1st Class Rory Collins and Junior Sailor 2006 Master-at-Arms 2nd Class David Scott.

“It was great to be recognized, I am really impressed with the entire event,” said Scott.

“I am very happy to be here,” said Collins.

Major Richard Schmidt of Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, presented N.C.O. 2006 Corporal James A, Falco, while Staff Sgt. Zamora presented Marine of the Year 2006 Private 1st Class Luis A. DabDoub.

“I am truly honored,” said Falco. DabDoub concurred by saying, “This feels good.”

Command Master Chief Eric Page of the Assault Craft Unit Five, Camp Pendleton, presented Senior Sailor 2006 GSM 1st Class Rafael Macias and Junior Sailor 2006 Seaman Lucyna Mol to the crowd to be recognized for their outstanding service to the United States.
