Another case of 'not in my backyard'

As an individual who has lived in this community since 1998 I find it strange that the people in this valley oppose this quarry. Where do people think the aggregate used to build this valley came from? It did not come from here… it came from some other area. It is our turn now.

When this quarry is up and operating, no one here will notice. They will have forgotten this fight. This is another case of “not in my backyard.” If we the people in California continue with opposition to every project we will do damage to our future economic prospects.

I would hope that everyone opposed to this quarry will take the time to visit the Indio operation to see the effort Granite puts into minimizing the impact of their operations. I think all would see that they do a great job at it.
