I don't want to get off on a rant, but

It appears to me that lies and stupidity have replaced baseball as our national pastime. We as Americans are collectively spoon fed enough half-truths on a daily basis to fill the stadium that we won’t build for the Chargers. Twelve to 50 times a day I am guilt-tripped by the California State Government into the proposition that all children need healthcare and as a single man with no children I should pay for it.

Frankly, I have had a stroke and have a heart condition and for the life of me I can’t get health insurance that I would be willing to pay for. Until the state does something about that, forgive me if I don’t really care if kids have free health insurance.

Why isn’t there an insurance pool for those who have preexisting conditions? Because the government says we don’t have the money. As of 12:48 p.m., Wednesday, February 21, 2007, we have spent $368,205,500,000 on the war in Iraq. Why aren’t the media or the presidential candidates talking about this? Because no one cares about the truth, only what sounds good.

Why talk about an illegal war when you can talk about Anna Nicole Smith 24 hours a day? News is just info-tainment and politics is a snappy 10-second soundbite. Oh yeah, NBC canceled “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.” I loved that show. I’m not looking forward to “CSI: Botswana.”
