Thanks to the community

It hardly seems possible that after five years, the rubble from the fire remains is gone. Thanks to all the fine people who participated in the clearing on the fifth anniversary of the Gavilan Fire. The CERT volunteers, the North County Fire Explorers, North County Fire Fighters, A&W Grading, Fallbrook Equipment Rental and Fallbrook Oil who, together, made this day possible.

The next stage of this project is beginning, led by Zebu Construction and Design, who is providing plans for the home. Thank you, Zebu, for your help! I appreciate all the support the Fallbrook Ministerial Association, in particular Chaplain Ron Ritter and Pastor Art Blodgett, has given me and all of the Gavilan Fire victims, from the day of the fire throughout the years.

Thanks also to the FireSafe Council members who have worked so diligently to help make Fallbrook fire safer, especially Phyllis Sweeney, Encouragement Factor, who has been supportive of all those involved since the day of the fire. Special thanks to Sid Morel, Fire Marshall, who has provided the energy to propel this effort. His help and encouragement, with the community volunteers, has given me hope that it is possible to have a home again.

Finally, sincere thanks to the many people behind the scenes, too numerous to mention by name, who have helped with this project.
