Palomar Graphic Communications Department offers Career Day

SAN MARCOS — Palomar College’s Graphic Communications Department will hold its 10th annual Career Day on Wednesday, March 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the GJ Building on the San Marcos campus, 1140 West Mission Road.

Career Day is open to the public and free of charge. The event is an opportunity for community members to network with local businesses for prospective job opportunities and find out about Palomar College’s many courses, certificate programs and Associate Degree program in graphic communications career fields.

Based upon past years, hundreds of community members are expected and will have the chance to select from three hourly concurrent presentations and demonstrations. Industry professionals will be on hand to speak about various topics related to the graphic communications field, including Web authoring, multimedia, game development, electronic publishing, graphic design, print services, pre-press, publishing, advertising, job search and résumés. Presenters from leading San Diego area companies will be available for questions. Sessions will begin every hour on the hour.

Attendees also can learn about the courses, Associate of Arts Degree and certificates offered by the Graphic Communications Department. Palomar graphics classes are offered during the day, evening and Saturdays at the college’s education sites around North County. Television classes, online classes and Saturday seminars also are offered. Certain courses are free of charge through the Regional Occupational Program (ROP). All coursework is hands-on and project-based.
