Bikers to ride for children of fallen heroes

FALLBROOK — Nearly a thousand motorcycles will rumble through Fallbrook, Temecula, Valley Center and the scenic highways of North San Diego County on May 12 to help Bikers For Education (BFE) raise money for youth education and the children of fallen American heroes.

An all-day event, the Third Annual BFE Ride & Rally will begin with breakfast and a blessing of bikes at St. Peter’s School in Fallbrook, continue with a Poker Run ride of more than 80 miles and conclude with an afternoon rally at Bates Nut Farm in Valley Center. At the rally, bikers will enjoy a barbecue lunch, beer and wine garden, live music by local artist Kevin Moyles, more than 200 raffle prizes and free door prizes, an auction, a magic show, vendors of all kinds and a best bike contest.

The Poker Run ride, coordinated by volunteers from the Black Sheep Motorcycle Ministry, has a $1,000 cash prize to the biker with the best hand. Each biker gets a free commemorative event t-shirt and ride pin for a minimum donation of $40 per person. Proceeds will benefit the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund, which provides educational scholarships to the children of those who served in the Armed Forces and sacrificed life or limb for America.

Freedom Alliance, a 501(c)3 educational and charitable foundation, was founded in 1990 by Lt. Col. Oliver L. North, who now serves as honorary chairman. “Through this fund we not only help the children of our fallen heroes pay for college but also let them know that the sacrifices their parents made will never be forgotten,” said North.

More business sponsors and private donations are desperately needed to help pay for expenses. To learn more, contact BFE at (760) 583-1919 or visit their Web site at http://www.BFERIDE.com.
