Home fire safety tips offered

Some homes are fires waiting to happen. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection advises homeowners to make their homes fire safe today by removing trash and checking for overloaded circuits and frayed wires. Many people would be surprised how quickly a fire hazard can develop without anyone noticing.

Boxes and clothing piled next to the furnace/heater, water heater or clothes dryer should be removed. Ashtrays should never be emptied at night; they should be set aside until morning.

No one should give fire a place to start. Be fire safe, not sorry!
