Free Sunday tours of UCSD offered

San Diego area residents and out-of-towners can enjoy free Sunday afternoon tours at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). A volunteer guide will lead visitors on a tour of the scenic campus by the ocean and provide information on the history and unique features of UCSD.

Free general overview tours, by 18-passenger bus or walking, are offered Sundays at 2 p.m. leaving from the South Gilman Information Pavilion on campus.

Walking tours are 90 minutes in length and are offered on the first Sunday of each month. An adult volunteer guide leads guests on a leisurely stroll through the heart of the campus to view and discuss some of the undergraduate schools at UCSD, the Price Center and Bookstore, as well as seeing selected pieces of the Stuart Collection.

Bus tours are also 90 minutes in length, allowing guests to see selected pieces of the Stuart Collection of outdoor sculpture found throughout the campus, the UCSD Theatres, Geisel Library, the Price Center and the recreational facilities. Short stops are made at Thornton Hospital and Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. These bus tours are offered the second, third, fourth and, when appropriate, fifth Sundays of each month, holidays excepted.

Special group tours and wheelchair accessibility can be arranged by request. Parking is free on weekends. Please phone (858) 534-4414 for reservations or additional information.
