Well, David Meyers, you asked what we think. Here is what I think: a pox on right wing thinking and a pox on left wing thinking. In addition, a pox on generalizations and those letters which are full of them, including the one prompting this response.

Speaking of generalizations, I am reminded of a quotation by Sir Joshua Reynolds in “Annotations to Sir Joshua Reynolds’s Discourses” – “To generalize is to be an idiot. To particularize is the alone distinction of merit. General knowledges are those knowledges that only idiots possess.”
