Fallbrook ladies receive special awards from Rotarian spouses

Pam Landes, Janet O’Leary, Carol Stika and Gloria Wright were honored with special Paul Harris Fellow awards from their husbands at a recent Rotary Club of Fallbrook luncheon.

To become a Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) a Rotary member must donate $1,000 to the Rotary Foundation, and in so doing may then donate the same for someone dear to them – in this case, a spouse – to become the special PHF, for which they receive a certificate and ribboned medallion, not unlike an Olympic medal. Paul Harris was the founder of Rotary.

The Rotary Foundation, part of Rotary International, uses the money worldwide to promote education of children, especially in underdeveloped third world countries; to foster student and teacher exchanges between countries; for polio immunization toward global eradication; for 1,000 Smiles, to aid destitute individuals and villages doing such things as digging wells and building schools; and scholarships.
