RE: 'Come spend a weekend in my neighborhood'

Bonnie, you knew you were going to get it from all directions after writing that letter. Only I’m not saying you are unpatriotic, I’m saying you are ignorant.

Let me make a few suggestions to solve your problem. Perhaps you could purchase an uninhabited island large enough to house our entire American armed forces. Not real likely to happen. Maybe our men should practice with Nerf guns and ammo. When the bombs pop, confetti can rain into the sky. Wouldn’t that be pretty?

On a more realistic level, maybe we should spend trillions of dollars to develop hybrid helicopters and jets – but then the purring engines would annoy you.

The best thing for you would be to sell your home and move out of your neighborhood. There are lots of areas in Fallbrook that are not subjected to the rattling and thumping of military aircraft and land practice. I would even suggest you visit a neighborhood in Baghdad and return (if you’re lucky enough) thanking God you live in a neighborhood that is a constant reminder to you that your government is fighting for your freedom to sell and buy a new home wherever you choose.

If you choose to stay where you are, you have made a choice to hear the aircraft. I’d like to see how far you get with your proposal to get the Base commander to stop training our military for war.

Not only are you ignorant, Bonnie, you are unthankful.

Nina Fennell
