An opportunity for blessing

Every Sunday at the Hilltop Center for Spiritual Living, Rev. Guy Williams inspires and motivates his congregation and guests to “change your thinking, change your life.” Because I have applied this philosophy to my own life with wonderful success, I have a suggestion for dealing with the distraction that comes our way from neighboring Camp Pendleton.

Rather than dwell on the uncomfortable, why not use it as an opportunity for blessing? How about a prayer for those whose lives truly are being disrupted and even destroyed with real bombs? After blessing those lives, we could turn to positive thoughts for the troubled in our own country. I’d say we don’t even have to go that far – we could start with intentions for ourselves and families.

Creating a spiritual practice to deal with difficult situations in life can be a valuable tool. Works great on the freeway when stuck in traffic. After all, if we can use cell phones in the car, we can certainly use prayer beads.
