Celebrate Easter with brunch at San Luis Rey Downs

On Easter Sunday, the culinary specialists at San Luis Rey Downs Restaurant will prepare a superior feast to satisfy an array of appetites. This establishment is one of the best kept secrets in our town, offering excellent food and a relaxing ambience.

“Audi, our head chef, and the other cooks created the Easter brunch menu,” said Mike Santo, restaurant manager. “Our guests really do like the breakfast delight menu, and the potato pancakes are great. We have such a big variety.” Santo also said the chef’s scrumptious Chicken Marsala is a huge hit.

In the rave reviews, Santo said many replied, “There was too much food!” Santo agrees they do have a large variety of culinary delights, but they do this in order to accommodate all tastes.

More importantly, Santo’s goal is to provide great country club cuisine at a conservative cost. For non-club members, their Easter Sunday brunch buffet will be a mere $28.95 per person. The brunch will last from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., giving families ample opportunity to sample these savory entrees and desserts throughout the day.

“We will also have an open menu breakfast before the buffet until about 8:30 am,” said Santo.

The hosts have been busy booking reservations for the upcoming holiday buffet and are expecting between 150 and 200 guests. However, Santo said they still have room for more families.

“We have a lot of tables and we are offering the brunch for six hours,” he said.

Because San Luis Rey Downs is in the beautiful agricultural area of Bonsall, Santo says a lot of people forget the restaurant exists. “We are a destination restaurant, and not something you’d see driving down the road.”

Diners who discover their tasty comfort foods at this secluded hideaway become regular patrons instantaneously.

Along with satisfying the palates of their customers, Santo wants to ensure everyone experiences excellent hospitality, topped off with a friendly atmosphere.

Diners are regularly captivated with the remarkable views awaiting them. Patrons can sit back and feel the tension in their shoulders dissipate as they cast a glance out the large glass windows of the restaurant. Avid golfers can scan the driving range, chipping green, putting green and holes 1 and 17. Patrons born without the golfing gene can instead focus their attention on the serene lake setting, trees and exceptional landscape.

Aside from the holiday buffets, the restaurant offers Sunday breakfast, Monday through Friday Happy Hour and multiple televisions for sport enthusiasts. And for those who feel they are “American Idol” hopefuls, the karaoke machine gets fired up Friday and Saturday evenings.

San Luis Rey Downs Resort is located at 31474 Gold Club Drive, Bonsall. Call (760) 758-3762. Reach the restaurant at extension 248.
