Free teleconferences for cancer patients, caregivers

The American Cancer Society hosts a series of free educational classes for cancer patients and their families in which patients can simply dial their phone.

As part of the Society’s many free patient service programs, “I Can Cope” is a monthly series of educational classes held by teleconference for people facing cancer. Patients and family members may join the call from the comfort and privacy of their home or office. “Managing the Effects of Illness and Treatment” will be presented Thursday, April 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Register by April 12. The class addresses the health challenges imposed by cancer. This session also provides an overview of common disease- and treatment-related problems and possible strategies to help participants begin building a range of self-care techniques.

The Society’s free patient service programs are made possible through fundraising campaigns such as Relay For Life events. To register for the “I Can Cope” free teleconference or to speak with a cancer information specialist at any time, call 1-800-ACS-2345. For cancer information, visit http://www.cancer.org.
