Cheer team takes second at campionships

BONSALL — On Saturday, March 17, the Sullivan Wildcat Cheerleaders were in the midst of hundreds of fellow cheerleaders and dancers celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at the Sharp International State Championship competition at Knott’s Berry Farm.

The team had been practicing for this competition as well as cheering for their football and basketball teams since September. The girls not only earned second place in the Middle School Show Cheer division but were also rewarded with the Judge’s Choice Award for best choreography. The girls agreed that their hard work paid off.

Many of the girls will be returning for next year’s cheer squad; however, Courtney Arestad and Natasha Turley will be moving up to the high school. Coach Allison Abbott looks forward to providing a fun cheerleading experience. All interested incoming sixth- through eighth-graders are encouraged to participate in tryouts the week of April 23. Cheer packets can be picked up in the front office of Bonsall Elementary School as well as Sullivan Middle School.
