Easter Bunny, egg hunt coming April 7

If you listen carefully, you may be able to hear the soft thumping sound of the Easter Bunny hopping down the trail toward Fallbrook because he (or she) is scheduled to celebrate spring with the children of Fallbrook on Saturday, April 7, at the Community Center.

In anticipation, members of the Fallbrook Firefighters Association are getting ready to grill hundreds of pancakes for hungry kids and their parents to kick off the event beginning at 7:30 that morning. The Pancake Breakfast, for a modest price of $3.50 for adults and $2 for children age 12 and under, will consist of ham, pancakes, orange juice and milk or coffee.

After breakfast finishes up at 10 a.m., the Easter Bunny will be on hand for personal visits with the kids and to authorize the beginning of the Egg Hunt.

Children will be divided into three different age groups – 3 to 5 years, 6 to 8 years and 9 to 12 years – for the friendly event. Parents will be permitted to walk with kids in the youngest age group but kids have to hunt on their own in the two older age groups. Announcements the day of the event will be provided in both English and Spanish.

After the Egg Hunt, the games will begin! Parents and kids alike can join in the fun with sack races, the famous egg toss and other new games being developed for this year. The ever-popular face painting will once again be offered as well.

Lending their support to the event are the Friends of the Fallbrook Community Center, Fallbrook Firefighters Association, Fallbrook Village Rotary, Major Market, National Charity League – San Luis Rey Chapter, the County of San Diego Parks and Recreation and Pala Mesa Resort. Gift certificates have been donated as prizes for some of the games by Wal-Mart, Subway, Carl’s Jr. and Yogurt Palace.

The annual Pancake Breakfast and Egg Hunt has been a Fallbrook favorite for many, many years.

“It has been over 20 years that we have been holding this fun event for families,” Gordon Stone, director of the Community Center, said. “We expect to have between 300 and 500 participants again this year.”

Stone asks that attendees please refrain from bringing their pets to the event.
