Fourth Annual Taste of Oregon to be held

Some Fallbrook residents, graduates of the University of Oregon, are involved in organizing the Fourth Annual Taste of Oregon event to benefit a scholarship fund that awards annual scholarships to San Diego County seniors entering the University of Oregon each fall.

The event, a night of northwest-inspired cuisine and wine tasting, is being sponsored by the San Diego Chapter of the University of Oregon Alumni Association. All alumni, family and friends are welcome to attend the event on Saturday, April 14, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Bahia Resort, 998 West Mission Bay Drive, San Diego.

Keynote speaker for the event will be former San Diego Charger Dan Fouts, who will share his experiences at the University of Oregon and how it impacted his career and influenced his life.

Fouts was a record-setting quarterback for the University of Oregon Ducks from 1970-1972. He was elected to the school’s Hall of Fame in 1992 and named Alumni Man of the Year in 1993. Drafted by the San Diego Chargers in 1973, Fouts became one of the top quarterbacks in NFL history, winning Pro Bowl honors six times. He was named AFC Most Valuable Player and NFL co-MVP in 1983. His NFL career was crowned with induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1993. He currently works as a college and pro football analyst for ABC Sports.

A silent auction will be held at this event to help benefit the San Diego Chapter Scholarship Fund. Reservations and refunds can be accommodated up to Monday, April 9. To register for the event, visit http://alumni.uoregon.edu or contact Dave Evans at [email protected] for executive seating questions or registration.
