Even a caveman can play Pickleball!

Bob Youngren has been teaching Pickleball and hosting seminars during his RV travels for the past few years. He and his wife, Beverly, have met many wonderful folks who have also discovered how much fun Pickleball can be. However, this year he met his most unusual student during one of his classes in Surprise, AZ! He found this fellow eager to learn and very agile, and before he knew it… he was ready to play Pickleball. It was just a stroke of luck that a photographer was nearby to capture this exciting event!

Bob and Bev just returned from competing in the 20th annual World Senior Games in St. George, UT, and also the Arizona Senior Olympics in Surprise. They brought home a lot of wonderful memories of new friends and also medals from each tournament.

“Each year the number of athletes steadily grows in our sport and we see the level of play getting better every year,” Beverly said. “It’s really awesome to be part of this fast-growing sport. Bob and I compete together as mixed doubles partners and I’m sure glad he’s on my side of the net!”

There are now four dedicated Pickleball courts at San Luis Rey Downs Tennis Club open to the public. The Youngrens invite everyone to watch or join them in the fastest-growing sport in the Senior Olympics. Games are usually played on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. Extra paddles are always available for the new players. Please e-mail Bob and Bev at [email protected] for further information. If a caveman can learn, anyone can!
