"The Easter Train"

Once there was a spider who lived in a tree. The webs he wove were the strongest, the glossiest, the stickiest webs that a spider could ever construct. Many bugs and beetles, many ants and other insects found themselves caught, quick-dried and stored away in his loaded pantry.

One thing alone troubled his tranquil existence. Close to his tree there ran a railroad track, and each morning when the train whooshed by, his whole house shuddered and shook. Sometimes he even lost a few of the tasty tidbits he had intended for a treat.

“That’s the last straw!” he screamed one day when he found part of his house torn away. I’ll put a stop to that train! It won’t trouble me anymore!”

That night he spun a long glossy filament that rolled out and out and out. When the wind gave a stronger puff than usual, he leaped into the air and went flying across the tracks to the tree on the other side.

Now his evil plan began. Back and forth, back and forth from tree to tree he ran, weaving the strongest, the glossiest, the stickiest web any spider could construct. None had ever been so fine, none so strong, so tough, so utterly unbreakable!

“I’ll seal it with a seal,” he muttered as he glued it doubly fast. “I’ll get some of my friends to guard it as well. They’ll make it as secure as they can.”

The next morning the “Hwooooo-hwooooo” of the train could be heard. It was the Logos Express. And it was coming awfully fast.

“Hurray!” laughed the spider. “What a wreck this will be!”

“Hwooooo-hwooooo,” called the train.

“Haw! Haw! Haw!” screamed the spider.

“Hwooooo-hwooooo,” the train warned. “Hwooooo- WHOOOOOOSH…”

“Take a guard,” Pilate answered. “Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how.” But you can’t stop the Logos Express. Because it’s the power of God… to raise Jesus from the dead… never to die again. It’s the power of God… to conquer sin and wrong. It’s the power of God to give a new birth and a new beginning, to radically change a person, from the inside out. The Logos Express. The power of God. Resurrection Power! Almighty God certainly wants the individual Christian and His believing Church to experience this Resurrection Power.

“That the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.” (Ephesians 1:18-21)

“I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings…” (Philippians 3:10)

God certainly wants people to experience His life-changing power, through the finished work of Christ!

The evil one has woven a strong, glossy, sticky web. There seems to be such spiritual indifference and moral rebelliousness in our world. That web at times does seem utterly unbreakable. And yet… there’s the Logos Express, still running strong, still running through Fallbrook…

But fellow believers, for that to happen, we must appropriate Resurrection Power. We must seek first His Kingdom, His rule in our own lives… obedience, holiness, Christlikeness. We must seek His rule over our churches… we must love each other and be unified… we must worship in Spirit and in truth… we must be ready to witness boldly. Above all, we must pray… that God in His sovereign power would break through to Fallbrook from the heavens… that He will make His presence felt in profound and inescapable immediacy. Easter 2007.
