Who Do You Say I Am?

Happy Easter! What a profound season to be writing to you as your new “Faith Matters” Editor for the Village News. There are going to be a couple changes. Ready for the tour? Each week in this section of the paper you will have an opportunity to read an article from one of our terrific Fallbrook Christian pastors sharing faith and insights. Our calendar will keep you informed of upcoming Christian events in our community we are welcome to share with our brothers and sisters in Christ. In the apologetics section, I’m excited to journey with you answering Jesus’ question, “Who do you say I am?” Through the study of analogies of faith and Scripture we will be able to proclaim with confidence and clarity echoing through the ages Peter’s response, “You are the Son of God!”

Some of you already know me as Editor of the Fallbrook Christian Network (our interdenominational newsletter) sponsored by the Fallbrook Christian Council aka the FCC. The FCC is a group of lay people from various churches who promote Christian unity and evangelization in our community. You may have seen the nativity scene we set up in front of Denny’s last Christmas. We are also sponsoring the Cross Walk tomorrow on Good Friday starting at 11am at St. Peter’s Sheridan Hall (450 S. Stage Coach Lane). We will begin this journey with a presentation of a cross builder constructing the cross of Christ (by Ed Puett of Fallbrook Presbyterian). At 12pm in St. Peter’s church we will stand in unity reflecting on the seven last words of Jesus prior to his death. As a community of believers we will then walk down Fallbrook Street taking turns carrying a cross as a public commemoration of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. We are then invited across the street to Fallbrook Presbyterian to tour an interactive stations of the cross which is open till 6pm. There are many other events that day we can share in, so make sure you check out the new calendar section.

If you have Christian events, meaty apologetics to share, or if you would like to represent your church on the Fallbrook Christian Council, please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]. Be sure to note FM (Faith Matters) in the subject of the e-mail so you won’t fall prey to the spam monster. You can also write me: Marcy Burge, c/o Fallbrook Presbyterian Church, 463 S. Stage Coach Lane. (No phone calls please—that’s my day job!)

God bless you and I look forward to exploring the matters of faith with you!
