It's time for spring cleaning!

This is annual spring cleaning time, and it is a good opportunity to eliminate those fire hazards around the house. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection advises homeowners to clean up and throw away all flammable materials that have accumulated. Newspapers, rags, wood and other combustible items can increase the chances of having a fire.

Everyone can take time today to check out their garage, shed, closets, attic, spare bedroom, porches and patios to reduce fire hazards. They can take a look at all light fixtures and extension cords. Residents should clean up before a fire cleans them out. Be fire safe, not sorry!
