La Paloma students help plant shrubs at Pico Promenade

FALLBROOK — On Wednesday, March 28, three different busloads of fifth and sixth grade students from La Paloma Elementary School eagerly participated in the second stage of an educational program conducted by numerous members of Jackie Heyneman’s Save Our Forest group (a part of the Fallbrook Land Conservancy).

The students planted seedlings last June at La Paloma and the young plants were then taken to the Save Our Forest nursery, where they were cared for by volunteers until the recent planting event.

A team of volunteers, led by Jean Dooley, met the students at Pico Promenade for the event. This is the second year La Paloma students have planted native plants along Pico Promenade.

Dooley is the “steward” of Pico Promenade for the Fallbrook Beautification Alliance and a member of Save Our Forest.
