'The Tax Man' to speak to Republican Women

FALLBROOK — San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector Dan McAllister, known as “The Tax Man,” will be the guest speaker for the Fallbrook Republican Women on Friday, April 13. McAllister is responsible for collecting over $3.6 billion in property taxes each year and manages approximately $5.1 billion in the county’s investment pool.

Through his actions and initiatives, McAllister is building a reputation as a powerful proponent for positive change in the interest of San Diego County’s taxpayers. His efforts to streamline the tax collection process, implement cost-effective technologies and cross-train customer service staff have resulted in net cost savings, improved customer service and rigorous financial controls over the county’s funds. His overhaul of the property tax bill to create a document that is easier for taxpayers to understand and remit has been praised as an example of responsive and responsible governance.

McAllister also contributes considerable time and resources to community service, such as serving as chair of the San Diego Unified School District’s Special Audit and Finance Committee and participating as a member of the Board of Directors of the Jackie Robinson YMCA and Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County. He is also on the Board of Directors of the San Diego State University Diversity and Equity Council.

The meeting will be held at Fallbrook Golf Club beginning at 9:30 a.m. Cost is $15. Reservations can be made by calling Gloria Rowe at (760)728-9875 or Judy Domercq at (760)728-1888.
