Mr. Berkstresser needs to reconsider his opinion

I am writing in regard to your article concerning the recent county hearing on Pala Mesa Highlands [“Opinions vary on Pala Mesa highlands project,” Village News, 3/22/07]. The article was comprehensive and informative. Area residents on both sides of the issue presented their position regarding the proposed development.

I was saddened to see that one gentleman, a Mr. Berkstresser, was unable to make his point without speaking of the Lake Rancho Viejo neighborhood in disparaging terms. He said that Lake Rancho Viejo is “not a desirable place to live or have in your neighborhood.” I have friends in that community and they love their neighborhood. I find it to be typical of Fallbrook housing in general.

I don’t understand Berkstresser’s dislike of Lake Rancho Viejo. He might want to reconsider his opinion of this area, or at least try not to make his point by degrading a whole neighborhood.
