Palomar seeks models for fashion show

SAN MARCOS — The Palomar College Fashion Merchandising and Design Program will be holding its annual fashion show, “FUSION,” May 11 starting at 7 p.m. at the Escondido California Center for the Arts.

The Fashion Program students are currently seeking models for the show. Those interested are invited to come to an audition on Tuesday, April 10, at 6:30 p.m. in room FCS-1 on the college’s San Marcos campus, 1140 West Mission Road. Visitors for the audition should pick up a parking pass at the Campus Police building next to the front entrance of the college.

The auditions are open to would-be models ages 16 and up, male and female, all sizes. Palomar’s Tech Prep coordinator, Rita Campo Griggs, says prospective models can gain experience and have fun at the same time.

Griggs anticipates more than 200 pieces of clothing will be strutted down the runway by the models featuring men’s and women’s clothing, all with a twist of “fusion.” Palomar advanced students will showcase entire clothing lines with up to 10 pieces.

The Fashion Merchandising and Design Program teaches both the creation of the garment for aspiring designers and the business end of fashion, including promotion and selling the product.

Fashion show tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. For more information about the modeling audition or the show, contact Griggs at (760) 744-1150, ext. 3047 or 2349, or [email protected].
