Cartoonists to 'draw' blood donors

For the 20th year, local cartoonists will “draw” blood donors on Saturday, April 21, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at San Diego Blood Bank centers. The cartoonists, all members of the Southern California Cartoonists Society, will be on hand all day to draw caricatures of donors. Donors will also be treated to Domino’s Pizza after noon.

Appearing at the North Coastal Donor Center, 161 Thunder Drive, Vista, will be “Out Our Way” cartoonist Paul Gringle, former ABC-TV courtroom illustrator Bill Lignante and artist Terry Van Kirk.

The San Diego Blood Bank’s newest donor center, Valley Blood Services, located in Murrieta at 25115 Madison Avenue in the Murrieta Spectrum Center, will host “Luann” creator Greg Evans along with “Outskirtz” creators Dave and Doreen Dotson.

Donors are also encouraged to join the new Donor Difference loyalty program, where members are entitled to new benefits, including the ability to track their total cholesterol, blood pressure and pulse. To make an appointment, call 1-800-4MY-SDBB or go to http://www.sandiegobloodbank.org.
