Pet of the Week

‘Helen’

Helen is an 8- to 10-year-old American cocker spaniel available for adoption through Critter Crossings’ Rescue Retirement Program. This program, through sponsors and donations, allows Critter Crossings to waive the adoption donation for senior dogs to enable them to “retire” into senior homes; the goal of this program is to place these dogs with owners who are home more often than not. They are also available for adoption to all parties for a suggested donation of $95.

Helen is completely blind with glaucoma and cataracts in both eyes (surgery is not recommended at this time). She is good with the youngest of children, other slow-moving dogs and cats. She is partially deaf, but caregivers believe it is “selective hearing,” as she will be the first one in the kitchen when she hears her food bowl being filled.

The caregivers will provide a supply of the three medications that provide Helen relief from glaucoma. She is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines and ready to be licensed. Critter Crossings also provides a bed, matching collar and leash set and a transitional food supply with each adoption.
