Develle, Wright 'take the cake'

I must say, in the six years my husband and I have lived in beautiful Fallbrook, I’ve heard of or read some ridiculous incidents. To tell you the truth, most have been quite amusing, but Jacqueline Develle and Bonnie Wright take the cake!

Apparently, neither has experienced the anguish, fear or heartbreak of having a family member or loved one sent – or lost – to war. I have two nephews being deployed this month to Iraq. One has been to Afghanistan and leaves a wife and two children; the other is on his second tour to Iraq and leaves a sweetheart that he desperately wanted to marry beforehand, and no, they are not at Pendleton but in Virginia. While in high school, I lost a very dear friend in the Vietnam War and, needless to say, I was devastated.

I ask Develle and Wright, do you know what it’s like to lose someone close to you in a war? Do you know what it’s like to leave loved ones behind, knowing you may never see them again? Do you know what it feels like to never know if you’re going to wake up because bombs or gunfire is going off all around you?

On the other hand, do you know what it feels like to live in constant fear of losing your home, family and everything you have worked for? Or in your prayers, do you just whine about a little noise and ask God to stop it?

If you want to complain to someone about not being informed of noise from the base, go back on your seller and/or park management. They were well aware of the fact.

Develle and Wright, as it has been pointed out several times, you do have options to your dilemma – the most obvious is moving, but personally, I think you should “eat crow” and publicly apologize in this newspaper to Fallbrook, Camp Pendleton and all the military personnel in our country; learn to be grateful to live in a wonderful, free country; and think before you open your mouths in the future.
