Post office example of poor management

The Fallbrook Post Office continues to be one of the worst examples of management I have ever seen.

If I hadn’t experienced it myself, I wouldn’t believe it. On occasions when I have not been able to pick up my business mail for four or five days, the workers have created a variety of small bundles and scattered them throughout their back room; hence, when I pick up said mail at the inside counter, I have not been given all of my mail – because the counter staff does not know where to look for all of it.

On different occasions I thought I was being given all my mail but, in fact, was not given bills and important other business mail. I do not have a large business that receives a ton of mail. I have a very small business. Overhearing my problem, two or three different people told me they had experienced the same situation with their post office boxes.

In addition, packages have arrived to my PO Box and the appropriate notices have not been given to me when I have picked up my mail – because they have been tucked inside mail that has been scattered and overlooked in the back room. The post office then returned the packages to the senders. When the post office finally began producing this “old” mail (weeks and months old), the “package” slips were in there – not filled out properly – so I was not even able to track where the packages had been sent from.

Don’t bother telling me how much mail our “poor” postal service handles because I really don’t care. The counter clerks are friendly enough, but the inefficiency casts a large, dark shadow. When I have voiced my concerns to the supervisors, all they have given me is one “boo-hoo” story after another – someone retired, different people did the job, someone was sick, someone doesn’t understand directions and so on.

The bottom line is that they have the ability to charge accordingly and need to staff and manage accordingly for the volume of business they accept.
