RE: 'Residents briefed on local gang activity'

Your article “Residents briefed on local gang activity” (4/5/07) was an example of great journalism. Ms. Macone-Greene did an excellent job of capturing detailed information from Detective Joe Montion and Lieut. Derek Clark, Commander of the North County Regional Task Force, and conveying the significant impact it could have on our community, if not challenged.

A community collaborative effort is needed to identify these gang members and report their gang activity to law enforcement in our neighborhoods. This will empower the community and preserve the quality of life for everyone, including future generations.

Our community thanks you for helping to raise the level of awareness with gangs, drugs and crime in a professional and interesting manner.
