Warrior lacrosse hosts Colorado team

Fallbrook High School’s boys lacrosse team received a visit from the lacrosse team of Monarch High School in Littleton, Colorado.

The Monarch team won the March 28 match by an 11-2 score, but Fallbrook head coach Al Schoffstall welcomed the level of competition. “Every chance is an opportunity to learn,” Schoffstall said. “We’re learning what it takes to be a top-level program.”

Fallbrook entered the game with a 3-4 record. “The boys tried, but they need to keep trying,” Schoffstall said of losing to Monarch. “We need to improve our stick skills.”

Monarch, which is one of top teams in Colorado, led 7-1 in the first half.

The Monarch coach once coached at Mount Carmel High School before moving to Colorado, so the team tries to make trips to San Diego County. This year Monarch played Rancho Bernardo and Francis Parker as well as Fallbrook.

“Next year we’ll return the favor,” Schoffstall said. “We look forward to next year when we’re going to travel to Colorado and play them.”

Fallbrook is in the North League for conference play and was 2-3 against North League opponents prior to the Monarch game. “We just look forward to a successful year,” Schoffstall said.
