Christ is risen indeed!

Christ is risen! He is risen, indeed! Alleluia! It has now been about two weeks since Christians celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. The day we call Easter. A few months ago, we celebrated Christmas; the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. About two weeks after Christmas, most people begin to put away their Christmas decorations. For some reason, our celebration of Easter does not include nearly the same amount of decorations and other items indicative of the season. But, whatever Easter decorations we do have out, now is about the time to put them away. Sadly, with Easter now behind us, it seems as if many, along with their Easter decorations, also in a sense, put away the risen Christ. It is almost as if the risen Christ has gone back into His tomb for another year or at least until next Christmas.

The message of Easter is not that Jesus rose from the dead and each year hangs out with you for a day or so. No, the message of Easter is that Christ is alive; that He has been victorious over sin and death; that He is now always with you.

The part of the Bible that brings us the message of Jesus’ birth and resurrection, and everything in-between, is called the Gospel. The word Gospel means Good News. The Good News says to each and every one of us: God loves you. He sent His Son Jesus to be born for you, to live for you, to die for you, and to rise for you. Through faith in Jesus your sins are forgiven, the kingdom of heaven is yours, and Jesus is with you now and in eternity.

Jesus, our risen Savior, assures all who would believe in Him:

Because I live, you will live also. John 14:19

In my Father’s house are many mansions… I go there to prepare a place for you. John 14:2

I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:20

Remember, the Good News of Easter – Christ is risen! He is risen, indeed! Alleluia! – is not just true for a day, or for a season, or even for a lifetime, but for all eternity!
