It is finally here!

Last week, Fallbrook FFA members participated in the experience of a lifetime at the State FFA Leadership Conference. This year, Fallbrook’s two delegates were Saber Youman and Kandace Kooyman. These two individuals went to seminars throughout the week and voted on issues in the FFA.

This was an outstanding opportunity for students to make connections with fellow members from all across the state of California that will be bonds they will kindle throughout their lives and long after their FFA years are over. There were workshops, sessions and a field day held in Fresno. This year, Fallbrook took more than 30 members to this conference. There was firsthand interaction with the State FFA officers as well! The conference ended on Tuesday, April 17.

There have already been a variety of judging teams that have qualified for the State Judging Finals in San Louis Obispo later this year! Congratulations to all members of those teams!

Another event that has been highly anticipated is the Fallbrook Chapter Officer Elections, which will be held on April 26. For these elections, students go into interviews on Tuesday, April 23, and are judged by the slating committee made up by retiring, senior chapter officers and the Agriculture Advisors. Then, the committee decides which office the interviewees would be best for. There are two people slated for each office. The results will be announced on April 26 at the chapter meeting after the candidates give their speeches and the chapter membership votes for the candidate they see fit for each office.

This is an exciting time of year for the Fallbrook members and we are looking forward to every moment of it!

Every 15 Minutes

On April 3 and 4, Fallbrook High School juniors and seniors experienced a program called Every 15 Minutes. During this two-day program, the students see a simulated crash on the first day, which involves students currently enrolled at the high school, and those students became the “walking dead” for the rest of the day to simulate what it would be like if they had died in an accident.

During the second day, the junior and senior student body took part in an assembly. At the assembly, letters were written from the students and from the students’ parents as if the students had died as victims of a drunk driving accident.

This assembly was one that touched every person there and shed light on the results of our actions and the responsibility we need to take for our actions, not just in high school but all throughout life. There was a different feeling of respect on the Fallbrook High School campus that day, as the students silently remembered all of those students who had passed as a result of these accidents.

This program has had a large impact on the Fallbrook student body and the students at the high school appreciate the community taking the time to educate us about the effects of drunk driving.

That is all for this week; thank you for reading. Go Warriors!
