Car Show to draw 300 classics to town

The Fallbrook Vintage Car Club (FVCC) expects to welcome 300 classic cars and more than 10,000 visitors once again to their Annual Car Show on Sunday, May 27, at the Fallbrook High School football stadium. In advance celebration, the club will provide a “sneak preview” by rallying 20 classic autos at Peter’s Auto (215 South Main, corner of Fig and Main) for a mini show during the Avocado Festival on April 22.

“We will have our booth set up at Peter’s during the Avocado Festival with some goodies and more information on the Car Show,” said FVCC member Fred Ragland.

The show, free to the viewing public, draws enthusiasts from near and far and is more than a great outing – it is a legend. With its display of models produced before 1900, antiques, touring cars, muscle cars, Mustangs, Corvettes and more, this is an event not to miss!

Visitors are amazed at the bevy of beauties and are especially charmed by the antique tractors and other specialty vehicles. Because of organization guidelines, the show is restricted to vehicles produced prior to and including 1980. A good-sized swap meet containing automobile parts, tools, merchandise and memorabilia rounds out the event.

“We will start out the day with the traditional pancake breakfast offered by the Fallbrook firefighters from 7 to 11 a.m. and coffee and donuts offered by the Kiwanis Club,” said Ragland. After breakfast is finished, the firefighters will take their spatulas to the barbecue and prepare burgers to sell. Hot dogs, chips and cold drinks will be on sale at the Kiwanis booth.

Vehicles begin arriving in the early morning, and most are in place by 9 a.m. Judging of the vehicles begins at 10 a.m. and awards are presented at 2 p.m. The show will be under the direction of Chairman Tom Long with the assistance of FVCC President Tom Bergeson, Field Committee Chairman Marv VanVoorst, Registration Chairman Glen Patterson and Swap Meet Chairman John Waugh.
