An open letter to Fallbrook Honorary Mayor Rhonda Reinke

Dear ‘unfriendly’ mayor…

The letter that you recently had published in the North County Times regarding Fallbrook’s newest neighbors was not only greatly offensive and very rude but not very becoming of a mayor. As a mayor, you were elected by votes from fellow people in Fallbrook because you came on as a kind and welcoming woman; I bet all those people are regretting their votes now, don’t you think?

Just because someone who is publicly known moves to Fallbrook – or anywhere, for that matter – does not mean that they can be publicly harassed and criticized! Yes, the McDermotts moved to Fallbrook to film a show about running an inn; that has what to do with you?

You are the mayor; your job is to welcome new people to our ‘friendly’ community, not tell them to leave and hope the door doesn’t hit them on the way out! Ms. Spelling and Mr. McDermott chose Fallbrook because they liked the people and our community. Your rude and juvenile behavior just makes all of us look bad.

I moved to Fallbrook about six years ago and I too thought Fallbrook was a little weird – nothing stays open past 8 p.m. and you can barely even get pizza delivered – but I learned to love the town. This is my home and it will stay that way for a long time.

Including your “opinion” in your article telling people that your store will be open on Sundays was very tacky and unprofessional. If Fallbrook doesn’t need any more princesses, then Fallbrook voted and you are the first to go!
