Local student needs community support

Dear Fallbrook citizens,

My name is Scott Thompson and I was born and raised in Fallbrook. I am now attending the University of California, San Diego and studying mechanical engineering.

Recently, my attention has been brought to a guerilla war that has been happening in northern Uganda, Africa, for over 20 years. Ugandan children now commute every night to overcrowded hospitals and schools to stay away from the danger of abduction.

My home church, Flood, has been partnering with churches in the country of Malawi for many years. I learned from Flood that I had the opportunity to take part in a pioneering mission to the northern Ugandan area of Lira. I have a passion to serve with love and sincerity as well as compassion and action, and I have no other motive but to lend a hand to my fellow human beings in Uganda.

As I embark on this life-changing endeavor, I would eternally appreciate your prayers above all things so that the work my team is doing will be a great benefit to the people of Africa as well as the world. With this trip, it has been placed upon me to raise a substantial amount of over $3,000 for all of the expenses this international journey will cost. I have found that I cannot go on this trip without the support of other people because I have committed all the money I possibly can and still have come far short.

I would greatly appreciate any financial support the people of Fallbrook would like to give, and I promise that with every dollar you are joining with me to make a positive impact in a world of so much pain and injustice.

If you would like to contact me about my trip, you can call me at (760) 803-6089. If you would like to make a donation, checks can be made out to “Flood Church,” for Scott Thompson, PO Box 924428, 9450 Gilman Drive, La Jolla, CA 92092.

Scott Thompson
