We have an irrational President

When I happened to turn on the TV yesterday, I heard a Washington “guru” state that “a nuclear weapon in the hands of an irrational President is one of our worst fears.” I’m not sure who he was speaking of, but my Webster’s explains “irrational” as “mentally unsound, utterly illogical and contrary to reason.”

Who better than George W. Bush fits this category? Through lies and deceit, he has taken us into a war against Iraq – a nation easy to defeat militarily but one that has shown resilience in the aftermath. Result: anti-American feelings worldwide.

Instead of concentrating on Al Quaida and Bin Laden in Afghanistan, he has squandered our young soldiers and the US National Treasury – all in a vain attempt to control Middle East Oil and enrich Halliburton and other corporations. He has taken a huge national surplus (inherited from Clinton) and turned it into a huge national deficit – which our children will be paying into eternity!

We need to remove the free rein granted to him under the War Powers Act and return the war-making decisions to the constitutional authority of Congress. As an old-time GOP member, I’m ashamed of what this man and his cronies have done to my party and to our beloved country!
