Fallbrook easily wins March cribbage match

VISTA — On March 22, 35 cribbage players gathered at the Vista Elks Lodge for the monthly Senior Cribbage Challenge. When the pegs and boards were put away, the Fallbrook team had won again, amassing 71 games to Oceanside’s fifty-five.

The top player of the match was Eileen Haworth of Oceanside, who won six games with two skunks. In second place was Fallbrook’s Luella Brotherton, who also had six wins but only one skunk. In third and fourth were Ted Tenenbaum (Fallbrook) and Nicki Newvine (Oceanside), who each had six wins without a skunk. The next four places were Fallbrook peggers Eileen Barnes, Ed Wozniak, Obie Weeks and Tom Waterbury, who each had five wins.

A $25 gift card donated by the Fallbrook Albertsons store was won by Frank Cardiff.

Senior Cribbage Challenges are held on the fourth Thursday of each month and consist of seven games. The next match will be held April 26 at the Vista Elks Lodge, 1947 East Vista Way. The play begins at 12:30 p.m. All who enjoy cribbage are invited to come and join the fun. Those who would like lunch are asked to arrive by 11:30 a.m.
