FVCC donates to Cub Pack #738

FALLBROOK — Local Cub Scout Pack #738 held their annual Pinewood Derby on March 31.

Orchestrated by Pack Master Dominic Crescenti and his staff, the derby was supported by Fallbrook Vintage Car Club (FVCC) volunteers Cecelia and Carroll Njust, who checked in racers and cars; race starter Fred Ragland; finish judges Don McCormick and Jim Massman; and Joan and Monty Voigt, photographer and FVCC event coordinator.

Fourteen “racers” entered custom pinewood cars. Each entrant received a participation award and trophies were awarded to first (Tyler Russell), second (Casey Clay) and third place (Kyle Murray). FVCC also sponsored the Most Elegant Car award, won by Luke Murray.

The cars, created by the boys, were not allowed to weight more than five ounces and raced on a downhill track built in the mid-1950s, making this truly a vintage car event!

Donations given by the FVCC are raised through the club’s annual car show. This year’s show will be held Sunday, May 27, at Fallbrook High School. Admission is free.
