Doll Friends presenting show, sale

FALLBROOK — Mini Doll Friends of Southern California will present their 30th annual doll show and sale, entitled “Ethnic Colors of the World,” on Saturday, May 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fallbrook Presbyterian Church Hall, 463 South Stage Coach Lane, Fallbrook. The show, which began in 1976, features over 40 sales tables and always a museum-quality exhibit.

The 2007 exhibit will feature 11-inch dolls dressed in international costumes, researched and dressed by each member. Countries represented will be Holland, by Flore Emory; Ireland, Gloria Osborn; Italy, Connie Tognoli; India, Sue Temblador; Switzerland, Patricia Hollister; Norway, Vyke Salsgiver; and France, Club President Mary Olsen. The original doll was from the factory of J.D. Kestner, a porcelain doll factory in Thuringia, Germany.

This year’s “show helper” will be a replica of the exhibit doll, dressed in a Norwegian-style folk costume created by club members. The public may buy ticket for a chance to win this beautiful doll in a raffle.

Proceeds from the show enable the club to continue to support local charities and county libraries. A variety of delicious foods will be offered for sale. For more information, contact Connie at (760) 723-0790 or Gloria at (619) 298-2447.
