Williams' 'Dark Rainy Day' on exhibit

FALLBROOK — Rebecca Williams, a first grade student at Maie Ellis Elementary, currently has one piece of her art on display at the San Diego Museum of Art in Balboa Park, San Diego. Rebecca’s artwork, “Dark Rainy Day,” will be on exhibit through May 27 and is part of the current Young Art 2007 Exploring Color exhibition celebrating kindergarten through 12th grade student artists in San Diego County.

The road to the exhibition began for Rebecca with an art project. Her first grade teacher, Cynthia Greer, taught an art lesson following a science and social studies unit on weather. Over a three-day period, Greer instructed the students through a series of “directed art” lessons. Media used included pencil, crayon, watercolor and watercolor mixed with tempera paint.

Rebecca is the daughter of Bernetta Williams of Fallbrook.
