Tree adopted in memory of Leon family

Through a generous donation from Renée Ingold, a beautiful downtown Fallbrook evergreen pear tree was adopted in memory of Henri, Emma and Andrée Leon.

Henri and Emma Leon moved to Fallbrook in the 1940s and were pioneers in avocado farming. They owned a 200-acre homestead (part of which is now Interstate 15) and planted the trees themselves. Their daughter, Andrée, was one of the first students at La Paloma School and graduated with straight As from Fallbrook High School.

Andrée passed away three years ago. Her daughters Renée, 12, and Roxanne, 10, chose the tree to honor their grandparents as well as their mother.

Readers interested in adopting a downtown tree may call Anne Richter at the Fallbrook Land Conservancy office at (760) 728-0889.
