Woman's Club wins at art festival

Members of the Fallbrook Woman’s Club competed in the annual Palomar District fine arts and crafts festival in February and placed in several events. The festival encompasses all the clubs in Palomar District #24 and is held in Escondido.

In painting, Betty Gilby won Best of Show in the Scenic Watercolor category and Best of Show for Portrait Watercolor. She also won second place for Still Life, Watercolor. Ayn Bryant won second place for Still Life, Acrylic and second place for Portrait Acrylic. Gilby’s Best of Show paintings are eligible to compete at the National Convention.

In literature, Betty Gilby won first place in the Essay category, Ayn Bryant won second place in the Children’s Story category and Marge Clayton won third place in Memoir.

In crafts, Karen Feyler won first place for her Ironing Board Santa and second place for a Crocheted Vest. Debbie Zumwalt won first place in Machine Quilting and second place in Wearable Art. Shirlee Fagan won second place in Rubber Stamping.
