Some self examination is in order

Does Jon Monday really believe what he wrote in his letter of May 5th? Perhaps he does, based on the common liberal presumption that “If your opinions are different than mine you must be wrong.”

John Bolton and Paul Wolfowitz are both highly qualified. It happens that their perspectives do not agree with liberal orthodoxy but that does not make them inept or wrong. As for the big brouhaha over Wolfowitz, he offered to recuse himself and was told that it was not necessary by those who are now so quick to have his head. See it for what it is; Wolfowitz is trying to clean up the corrupt practices of the past and is upsetting the entrenched bureaucracy. We need more like him, not fewer.

As for the comparison of JFK to George Bush; they both cut taxes and stimulated the economy. There wasn’t much else that JFK did that was so spectacular. He made quite a bollix of the Bay of Pigs situation. I am old enough to remember the bad press JFK was getting just prior to the trip to Texas (which was substantially to burnish his image with the American people). Nothing does more to create a hero than martyrdom.

The appearances are that the Democrats will damage the economy with tax increases and restrictions on trade. The Republicans have shown themselves to be somewhat inept the last few years but the evidence is accumulating that the Democrats will be worse. The liberal agenda of pandering to the poor with promises of all that will be done for them by taxing the “rich” is a failing policy. The most important reality is that a dynamic growing economy (which we have with George Bush) produces the most benefits for the greatest number of people. We need less government, not more!!
