Fallbrook Music Society founders receive awards

FALLBROOK--On Sunday, May 6, Georgia Hawley, Spencer Lehmann and Grayce Rosvall were each honored with a “Founders Award” from Fallbrook Music Society.

The awards were presented to Georgia Hawley and Spencer Lehmann at the closing concert of Fallbrook Music Society’s 29th season – a monumental performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. The concert, performed by the Redlands Symphony Orchestra and a 120-member choral group, was dedicated to the Founders, and formed a fitting close to the 2006-2007 Season.

“It is important that we begin to celebrate our 30th Anniversary Season remembering the Founders of Fallbrook Music Society,” says Brenda Montiel, President. “We thank our founders who are owed a debt of gratitude as we celebrate the success of their early mission and as we continue to secure their vision,” she added.

Two of the Founders of the Music Society, Georgia Hawley and Spencer Lehmann are still season subscribers of the organization’s concert series. Other Fallbrook Music Society Founders were: Orville Evans, Vernese Thompson, Elvin Ehlers, Virginia Buffington, John and Cynthia Cruzan, Frances Knox, John and Olga Lynn, Howard and Alice Mann, Lois Mulholland, Evelyn Turner and Jean Deutsche.

In fulfilling its commitment to the community, Fallbrook Music Society’s involvement includes symphony and chamber concerts for our community and music outreach programs in our elementary and high schools, providing inspiration and education to the broadest possible audiences. The 2007-2008 Classical Music Season offers the entire family the opportunity to share the joy and discovery of a live symphony concert and makes professional classical music more accessible to the residents of Fallbrook and its surrounding communities.
