Septic system workshop May 30

RAINBOW– Residents of Rainbow and the Rainbow Creek Watershed are facing new Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) regulations for Rainbow Creek. The regulations focus on reducing the amount of nitrates and phosphates in Rainbow Creek. Part of the efforts to educate the residents about how they must reduce the amounts of nitrates and phosphates into the water system is to help them understand septic systems and to keep their septic systems from failing and polluting local ground and surface waters.

A free septic system workshop on May 30, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., will address the proper maintenance of septic systems and how to reduce the risk of system failures. The workshop will be held at the Rainbow Valley Grange, 2160 Rainbow Valley Blvd. A representative from the County of San Diego’s Department of Environmental Health will be speaking at this workshop. It is very important for the residents of the Rainbow Creek watershed (even those in the highlands) to attend this workshop in order to understand their septic systems and to help protect the water quality of Rainbow Creek.
