PERRIS- The Perris Raceway Spring Series 2007 featured regional competition among Peeweez/motokidz riders. The six round series began March 18 and concluded on May 13.

The six consecutive Sunday races featured dozens of Southern California boys and girls. They competed in 16 different classes and ranged in age from 4-12 years old. The Honda 50 4-Stroke 4-6 year old event featured eight riders from all over Southern California.

Anaheim’s Cannon Murphy was on fire the entire series. In the final race of the series Murphy took second place in the first Moto and first place in the second Moto with an overall first place. Murphy raced 6 of the 6 races in the series putting him in first place overall with most points. Murphy also raced in an upper division race where he performed well.

Marcus Nesby of Costa Mesa won the holeshot and took first place in the first Moto. He also placed third in the second Moto. Nesby’s aggressive riding led him to a second place finish on the day, behind Murphy. Nesby also competed in all 6 of the series races, placing second in the overall point total.

In the Honda 50 4 Stroke 7-8 year old class, Fallbrook’s Shea Bendykowski took a second place in the first Moto. Shea took the holeshot in the second Moto, and finished first overall for the day.

Riding the number 3 bike, Bendykowski had a strong performance and was a real crowd pleaser.

After going down during the final lap of the first Moto, Fallbrook’s Caleb Battle charged back to take third place. Battle attacked the track hard on the second Moto, gassing through the berms and passing several riders for a second place finish. Riding the number 41 bike, he ended the day in third place overall and finished the series with a third place point total.

Local Rider Profile-Caleb Battle

Caleb Battle learned to ride at Amago Raceway, taking classes to learn the basics of Motocross riding. Building on this strong foundation Battle is now being coached by Jim Gibson at Lake Elsinore Raceway.
