Brother's Bistro: Three years of pleasing Fallbrook palates

Brother’s Bistro remains one of Fallbrook’s popular dining destinations with its eclectic and savory menu. The husband and wife team of Brother’s Bistro, Dee and Ron Nusser, are excited to be celebrating the restaurant’s third year anniversary.

“What makes us so unique is that we are a ‘Ma and Pa restaurant,” explained Dee. She went on to say that since so many dining places are franchised-owned these days, it is a real treat for diners to visit a family-owned establishment.

Brother’s Bistro also remembers the birthdays and wedding anniversaries of its patrons, by sending greeting cards. In addition, they treat those loyal patrons to a meal on their special day!

Their five-page restaurant menu offers such a wide variety of dishes it is sure to jump-start any taste bud.

“We do have Italian specialties; however, we do offer Asian fusion, fresh seafood and steak,” said Dee. Though its menu is quite extensive, Dee believes in changing the menu every four months to promote new dishes and prevent dining boredom.

Each recipe offered at Brother’s Bistro is personally created by Dee. Since the age of seven, Dee has created magic in the kitchen - preparing meals and adding spices to create a zing in her dishes.

“I immerse myself in food,” she said. Instant magnets for Dee are cookbooks, food-related articles and culinary seminars. “I love to cook. I have thousands of recipes.”

Dee has a simple, yet powerful mission for her restaurant. She wants patrons to love the food. “I want them to take a bite and say, ‘Wow,” she said.

This ‘wow factor’ philosophy is why this husband and wife team is in the food industry, and the ultimate reason their catering business continues to thrive. What started off as being a mere five-percent of their business, has now increased to thirty-five percent and continues to increase.

“We try and be a notch above the rest,” said Dee. “We offer a beautiful presentation and great food.” Dee said their catering business covers smaller affairs and expands to large parties and weddings. They also provide an event staff including bartenders, valets and servers. Dee personally oversees these events, ensuring all flows smoothly.

For those who want to spend a relaxing day at home, but are craving a Brother’s Bistro dish, there is no need to worry. They deliver the entire menu.

“We have been delivering a lot to Tori Spelling’s Bed and Breakfast,” Dee said. “Whoever is there has figured out that we deliver and they place big orders once or twice a week.” When Spelling returns for the taping of her show in June, she will be happy to know that the town of Fallbrook does indeed deliver food after all.

Dee also explained a new way they have found to support charitable organizations through their business – the Brother’s Bistro Gift Certificate Fund-Raising Program.

“We give each member of the organization $40 worth of Brother’s Bistro gift certificates that are $20 each. We then give them [charitable organization] half of the proceeds.” This program has been a huge hit with local schools and word is spreading to other charitable organizations.

Dee mentioned how much she and her husband enjoy living in Fallbrook, and say they are delighted to provide the town of Fallbrook with a great dining experience. “My favorite part is making people happy,” she said, smiling.
